Financial theater and alchemy

Drottningholm Palace Theatre and CRYSTAL invites you to Money will be like dross – a meeting between contemporary financial theater and alchemy of the 18th century. All directed by artists Goldin+Senneby. The event marks the opening of a month-long exhibition of the same name at CRYSTAL. Starting at Hudiksvallsgatan 4B and the popular seasonal opening of the galleries in the area the audience will be carried by bus to the Drottningholm Court Theatre.

Drottningholm was for some years in the 1780's home of August Nordenskiöld, a mineralogist and swedenborgian, who was hired by King Gustav III to the (secret) alchemical experiments. His mission was to create gold that could finance Sweden's military and economic expansion. Nordenskiöld had, however, a different agenda, he wanted to create so much gold that its value was lost and to end the monetary tyranny.

In the current project The Nordenskiöld model Goldin+Senneby examines the relationship between contemporary finance and the utopian ideals and alchemical experiments of Nordenskiöld. Money Will Be like dross is an open rehearsal of a performance during creation.

Starring: Pamela Carter (screenwriter), Malin Nilsson (magician), Eva Rexed, Joel Spira, and Jacob Tamm (Actor) and Maria Lindal (musician). Goldin+Senneby is a collaboration between artists Simon Goldin and Jakob Senneby since 2004. Goldin+Senneby laborates with legal, financial and spatial constructs through performative strategies.

Opening at Crystal Hudiksvallsgatan 4B Thursday 12 January, from 17.00. At 19.00 depart by bus from CRYSTAL to Drottningholm Court Theatre, where the experiment continues.
