Désirée Giove, born in 1999, made her debut at the Teatro alla Scala at the age of twenty-four, performing the role of Anaide in Il cappello di paglia di Firenze under the baton of Donato Renzetti. She subsequently returned to La Scala as the Countess Ceprano in Rigoletto, conducted by Marco Armiliato, and also covered Julie Fuchs in the role of Marie in La fille du régiment, under the direction of Evelino Pidò.
In 2023, she graduated with a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance from the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome, receiving top honours (110/110 cum laude and Honourable Mention). In the same year, she was admitted to the Academy for Lyric Opera of the Teatro di San Carlo, where she refined her artistry under the guidance of renowned soprano Mariella Devia.
At the Teatro di San Carlo, she made notable role debuts as Micaëla in Bizet’s Carmen, conducted by Dan Ettinger; A Voice from Heaven in Verdi’s Don Carlo, under the baton of Henrik Nánási; and Carolina in Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto, conducted by Francesco Corti.
Her collaboration with the Neapolitan opera house continued with her debut as Glauce in Cherubini’s Medea, the opening production of the opera season conducted by Riccardo Frizza. Under the same conductor, she also performed Persephone in Ennio Morricone’s Partenope and appeared as A Priestess in Verdi’s Aida.
She also made her debut as Nannetta in Verdi’s Falstaff at both the Teatro di San Carlo, under Marco Armiliato, and the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, conducted by Vincenzo Milletarì.
Among her forthcoming engagements is her debut at the Drottningholm Palace Theatre in Stockholm as the Valletto in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea, followed by a concert in Stockholm featuring Respighi’s Il tramonto.
In 2027, she will make her role debut as Egle in Piccinni’s Zenobia at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari. She will also appear as Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Opéra de Lausanne, the Theater an der Wien, and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino. In the same season, she will sing the title role in Paisiello’s Nina, o sia la pazza per amore at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples.
Also under the baton of Francesco Corti, she will perform the role of Arbate in Mozart’s Mitridate, re di Ponto in a production touring the Stadtcasino Basel, the Theater an der Wien, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris.
