With a striking vocal presence and captivating musical refinement, American tenor Zachary Wilder has established himself as an exemplary interpreter of seventeenth- and eighteenth-century repertoire, ranging from Monteverdi to Mozart, by way of Benjamin Britten. His artistry has made him sought after by conductors and prestigious ensembles on both sides of the Atlantic.

He currently collaborates with a host of renowned ensembles such as Pygmalion, L'Arpeggiata, Les Arts Florissants, Les Talens Lyriques, Le Concert d'Astrée, the Boston Early Music Festival, the Bach Collegium Japan, the Monteverdi Choir & The English Baroque Soloists, the Handel and Haydn Society, the Netherlands Bach Society (Nederlandse Bach Vereniging), and the Netherlands Chamber Choir (Nederlands Kamerkoor). Beyond early music, his collaborations with symphony orchestras (the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra) allow him to explore more recent repertoire as well.

Recent seasons have been marked by major projects that have reaffirmed strong musical partnerships with several eminent conductors. With Francesco Corti, he took part in a major tour of Handel's Radamisto with Il Pomo d'Oro, followed by two staged productions at Drottningholm Palace Theatre (Purcell's The Fairy Queen in 2023 and Lully's Armide in 2024), as well as a tour of Bach's St Matthew Passion with the Freiburger Barockorchester.

Under the direction of Philippe Jaroussky, he portrayed Erinda in Sartorio's L'Orfeo at the Opéra de Montpellier and made his debut in the title role of Mozart's Mitridate alongside the Capella Cracoviensis. More recently, he sang Oronte in a concert performance of Handel's Alcina with Ensemble Artaserse (Paris, Montpellier, Barcelona).
Zachary performs regularly with Christina Pluhar and L'Arpeggiata: alongside Monteverdi, he has sung with them the role of Agenore in Mozart's Il Re Pastore at the Salzburg Mozarteum (for the work's 250th anniversary) and at the Müpa in Budapest, as well as Mozart's Requiem in Salzburg.

With Raphaël Pichon, notable performances include his portrayal of Basilio in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, several tours of Monteverdi's Vespers of the Blessed Virgin, and, most recently, the production Le lacrime di Eros (in the role of Pastore), staged by Romeo Castellucci at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam, as well as a major European tour of the St Matthew Passion.

Zachary performed at the Aix-en-Provence Festival in summer 2025 in Cavalli's La Calisto (as Linfea) with Correspondances and Sébastien Daucé (staged by Jetske Mijnssen), a production revived in May 2026 at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and the Théâtre de Caen.
Other notable engagements include concerts at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, where he performed with the Foundation's orchestra and choir under Martina Batič and Peter Dijkstra in Bach's Christmas Oratorio and Mass in B minor; and, in more recent repertoire, Britten's Serenadeunder Osmo Vänskä, Vaughan Williams's On Wenlock Edge, and Britten's Nocturne (with the Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra).

For the 2026/2027 season, Zachary reunites with Francesco Corti at Drottningholm for Monteverdi's The Coronation of Poppea (as Lucano and Liberto), and with Raphaël Pichon for a major tour devoted to Buxtehude, followed by a new stage of the "Chemins de Bach" ("Bach's Paths") project. The latter half of 2026 will see him strongly present in his native country: his debut in the title role of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo with Haymarket Opera Company in Chicago, Brooklyn Suite at Merkin Hall in New York, and two performances of Handel's Messiah, with the San Francisco Symphony and the Mercury Orchestra Houston.

His extensive discography comprises more than forty recordings for prestigious labels including Ricercar, CPO, Soli Deo Gloria, Harmonia Mundi, Glossa, Atma, La Música, and Aparté, under the direction of such figures as William Christie, John Eliot Gardiner, Masaaki Suzuki, Christophe Rousset, and Raphaël Pichon.
Zachary's first solo recording for Harmonia Mundi, Brooklyn Suite, was released in early 2026.

Zachary's also appears in Death at Dawn at Drottningholm Court Theatre.
