Swedish soprano Josefine Mindus has earned acclaim for her vibrant stage presence, vocal virtuosity, and fearless theatricality. Since joining the ensemble of Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in the 2024/25 season, she has made notable role debuts including Chief Gepopo (Le Grand Macabre), Ännchen (Der Freischütz), Despina (Così fan tutte), and the title role in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden. Her recent concert engagements include appearances with Ensemble United Berlin at the Konzerthaus Berlin under Vladimir Jurowski, the Komische Oper Berlin, and the Kurhaus Wiesbaden with Attilio Cremonesi.

Recent stage highlights include her debut at Drottningholms Slottsteater as Cephisa in Telemann’s Orpheus under Francesco Corti, as well as her debuts at the Stadttheater Bern as Blonde (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) and at Italy’s Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto as Amore (Orfeo ed Euridice). She returns to Drottningholm in summer 2026 for Benjamin Lazar’s new production of L’incoronazione di Poppea under Francesco Corti.

A finalist in the 2025 Cesti Wettbewerb für Alte Musik, Josefine was also selected to compete for the Swedish Soloist Prize 2026, Sweden’s most prestigious award for young classical musicians.

From 2020 to 2023, Josefine was a member of the International Opera Studio at the Komische Oper Berlin, where she performed roles including Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Atalanta (Xerxes), and Euridice (L’Orfeo). In 2022 she received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Bess McNeil in Missy Mazzoli’s Breaking the Waves at Vadstena Castle.

Josefine is a recipient of the Swedish Jenny Lind Scholarship and has won Second Prize at both the 2024 Hjördis Schymberg Awards and the 2022 Bundeswettbewerb Gesang.

Originally trained as a composer, her works continue to be performed regularly, including at the ceremonial opening of the Swedish Parliament in 2025. She completed her vocal studies at the Hanover University of Music, Drama, and Media after earlier studies at the Vadstena Academy of Song and Piano.
